I used the old home button from the original screen as it worked fine before, and I have the same issue. Even when trying to set it up again it give the message "Unable to complete Touch ID setup.

The flex cable to the home button probably got damaged during the removal or re installation process. Even a minor tear or hard crease can damage this small flex cable. Take a look under a microscope if you have one, and see if it was damaged.

Good Luck

If you replaced the home button along with your screen, you will not be able to use the touch ID function, as they are linked (paired) with the motherboard. When you change it, touch ID will not work.

If you still have the original home button, try reinstalling it with the new screen.

Good luck.
