Why is 13" replacement LCD so dark.

Read similar questions but not sure it covered my situation. Basically dropped my A1181 Macbook which resulted in half of the screen going black. So I ordered a replacement LCD and it is extremely dim upon installation. Brightness adjustment has no effect. Is it possible this is a result of the inverter cable going in halfway or upside down? I've installed it with removing the top case. When I put in the old LCD I have the same half black screen, but it also is now extremely dim. I haven't put everyting back together so I don't think it is the result of a screw length issue. Ideas? Thanks.

It's not easy to reconnect the backlight connector to the inverter board socket so it's possible that the connector is not well seated in the socket. There's also another connector at the other end of the inverter board that connect to the logic board. Check this connection too.

If that doesn't work then maybe you have a problem with the inverter board itself or the inverter cable.

Did you check the brightness adjustment in the system preferences (monitors) ?

I will check both, I unfortunately put a little too much pressure trying to connet the inverter. Looks like the black strip/baord (?) under the hinge mount has come loose. I am now going to remove the top case to see what I can find out.
