Aftermarket home button, do they work?

Do aftermarket home buttons still work as I read that Apple had something in plan where aftermarket home buttons with lcd’s don’t work only the original button that came with the phone works.

Is this still a thing or has it been removed?

Thank you

Answer this question I have this problem too

Has been so since the iPhone 5s. None of the Touch ID sensors from aftermarket works, even if you swap original buttons between original phones, they won't work.

Since iPhone 7, not even the button function works.

So if I repair my own iPhone with a new screen I’m sacrificing my home button?

You can try taking the original one off.

Is there a way to be able to use aftermarket buttons or?

Nobody’s found a way to do that, this is pretty solid security.

Third-Party home buttons do not work. It will automatically bring up Assistive Touch. You can get the home button calibrated at an Apple Store, but you'll wind up paying for a repair because Apple does not like third-party replacement components or repairs.

So the only way to get past this is by having the original button that the phone was sold with?

by

That is correct.

There is an aftermarket option that works (I have just installed and test it on an iPhone 7):

https://www.partsfixit.com/jc-universal-...

It comes with a home button and little connector for the logic board. The connector must be secure and lined up and having the shield secured ensures that. Then the button pairs with the phone through bluetooth.

Very grateful for this option now.

I also have an aftermarket that works via Bluetooth. The home functionality works. However, I often don’t have a keyboard when I should. If I swipe up n turn Bluetooth off, I have a keyboard and no home button. Pretty annoying to have to choose between the two. Anyone know a fix for bluetooth connections interfering with keyboard display?

The JC Home button is emulated as an keyboard so I think you'll have to wait about 5 seconds before opening up a keyboard (pressing in keyboard input boxes) then it'll show up?

I been experiencing the same issue sometimes i get a keyword sometimes i do not. Thats not the only problem with the home button at times it disconnects from Bluetooth.
