No power but drum light is on...

Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer. I’ve used previous questions pertaining to my issue/similar issues. Thermal fuse, thermistor, door switch all are fine. Drum light turns on and off. Control panel does not have any power.

Any suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I’m a teacher but I’ve had success repairing dryers, mine and my parents’...this model is my fiancées and the most digital of those I’ve worked with. I’m at a total loss. The board is fine and all solders are solid. I’ve gone through everything I can given that there is zero power except the drum light. Just going to have to buy a new dryer. It just stopped when my future mo-law was doing her laundry one day...oh well. Maybe that’s a sign?

I’ll check back if anyone has another thought. I’ve seen no real answers for posts like mine.

Check for 220 volts at plug you may have 120 which will power light. Run drum but not heat

Also lack of ground will keep control panel from functioning

220 doesn’t apply here.

I had the exact same issue where the drum light worked fine with the opening and closing of the door. My problem turned out to be the “End of Cycle Signal" button was wedged in behind the exterior face cover. Once I relieved that pressure and the button popped back to its normal position, the dryer worked perfectly. I'd suggest checking all those buttons on the front panel to make sure they aren't stuck in.

Thank you so much, Doug!! I have a Kenmore HE4 dryer, but couldn't believe it was as simple as checking that the buttons weren't compressed. I just used my fingernail to check each one and the panel lit up. I was going to order a new keypad but your suggestion fixed it. I sincerely appreciate your post here!

Last week I found the missing puzzle piece in the Roomba. This week I fixed the dryer by pressing random buttons. I've never looked better to my wife. This one was all you Doug

Check for a loose wire the drum rolling around can loosen the wires pull all the wires off the control panel and reattaching

Just to save you a lot of money, if the drum light comes on but the control panel has no lights, then the power block is the problem usually. To save you more money, there is a 100microfarad capacitor on the power block that is the main culprit. If you can desolder a component easily, the cost of replacing this capacitor is roughly 3 dollars. This could essentially save you 330.00!
