whatever it is won't fully start up

@mayer HELP. My 2012 MacBook Pro 13 in Unibody whatever it is won't fully start up. I can get into internet recovery etc. but my hard drive is NOT showing up in disc utility. I bought a new hard drive installed it and now having same issue. I called apple and of course they want me to come in because they are saying it must be a logic board issue. I ran a diagnostic test and nothing is coming up wrong with the hardware. Do I just buy a new logic board? Is there a way to find out exactly what is going wrong? Or is that the only thing it can be. HELP PLEASE

Apple is giving you the run around and trying to cheat you. This is so well know by them they were even replacing the hard drive/IR cable for free for a while. I would leave them an appropriate Google review.

The cable gets damaged by the bottom case hitting it as it comes up the steps and over onto the the optical drive. I use pads or 3M extreme mounting tape on either side of the cable to prevent it from happening agai9n. It is by far the most common issue with the 2012 MBP 13" machine.

Your hard drive may be just fine, but a very good upgrade for this machine is a SSHD. It makes this machine feel like new.
