Take out all the components including the battery and I'd rinse with 99% isopropyl alcohol and then air dry or dry with a canned electronics cleaner like maybe Ultra Duster is found more commonly commercially of the shelf (COTS).

A rinse with distilled water may work also better to get any electrolytes in the water you dropped into out of the components, then rinse with 99% isopropyl alcohol to help dry and as noted above use dry air or a canned electronics cleaner.

I've never tried with rice or absorbent materials in a bag as some note works.

I'm going by how to clean electronic components more-so. The sooner you dry out, and clean if you have to, the better.

Hi @jafinch78 ,

Good answer.

Also important that the battery be removed as soon as possible to prevent further component damage before cleaning process starts.

Water is a conductor of electricity (not distilled water though) and there is power available at all times on the systemboard even though the phone is 'Off", so there may be damaging unintended circuit paths created.

Thank jayeff. I edited the answer to clarify since wasn't worded the best and a score of 1 can be a score of 3 or more with clarification I'm thinking. All the best!
