no service at all when I put any sim card in

when i put my sim card in there is no signal at all it is saying invalid sim

If you are using a SIM card that was originally from another phone you won't be able to use that SIM unless you edit your APN settings. If the SIM is indeed from that phone, then you need to have the SIM card replaced.

You've paid the bill? The phone isn't second hand? Is there are a chance it was reported lost/stolen? These are other reasons the sim isn't recognised. You may also like to clean the sim, check sim slot for dirt and damage.

What software are u running? Apple blocked APN editing in the 3.0 iOS update. So if you have 3.0 or above you can't do this without jailbreaking or visiting the site I referred you to above.

So that's your case.. your mobile is network restricted to the sim you have inserted.to remove this restriction you need to unlock your phone.. You can do that by purchasing unlock codes from any commercial vendors online like http://www.theunlockspot.com .Once unlocked you can use any carrier to it...
