Clean the charge port out as carefully as possible so as not to damage any pins. They usually end up full of lint and other crap from our pockets. If that has already been done then replace the charge port.

Follow this guide to replace the charge daughter board.

The new replacement part is available from here.

The hint to me is this " i have to push the cord a certain way in the charging port.".

Make sure you get the correct revision of the charging port daughterboard. There are at least four variants about. Use the wrong one and you won't be able to charge or use 3/4G.

Also 30 dollars is ridiculously expensive

You have tried several batteries. That they don't work shouldn't be dependent on the charging port connector. Have you tried using an external charger to charge one of these batteries up? It might not be worth replacing the charging port if you can get by with an external charger.
