Are they only black and green on the camera/LCD or green when you download/print too?

by

They are black and green on the camera. I haven't tried printing or downloading.

by

Please try downloading them on to your computer or printing one and let us know the results.

I tried it downloading them into my computer and they are still the same. I also changed the memory card to another camera to see if it would change but its still black and green. Before I also tried reseting the camera but the colors won't change and the pictures keep coming out the same. What can I do to get the colors back to normal?

Have you tried reformatting the disk/card? Sometimes if you have updated the driver for the camera your disk then becomes "outdated". Go to camera menu and reformat... You may lose any unsaved photos but as they are all green and black I'm not sure that'll be too bad??

It sounds like your camera has a bad CCD. Which is the sensor that captures the image. Here is a link to a site showing images from cameras with bad CCDs. http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds....

You will be able to gauge how similar your pictures are to those. If it is the CCD my recommended fix would be replacement of the camera and selling this one on eBay for parts to help offset the cost. Before making that decision I would give pollytintop's suggestion of reformatting a try first.

i think you're right ab... thought I'd try the cheap option first. I had a bad ccd on a kodak and bought a broken camera from ebay and just swapped that part over. Now have a load of spare parts but it was far cheaper than selling and buying new and I did a teardown for here in the process, so all fun!

Pollytintop I am glad you had fun with it. You have an ability for fixing things most don't posses. You will use your spare parts too, I am sure. I wouldn't suggest for this person to buy new, unless that is what they want. There are 2 working vpc-S770R on eBay right now for just under $70usd. None broken there and I couldn't find a price for a CCD. I have 6 more Fujifilm s700 to fix then I am going to move to a more modern camera to repair. It is getting harder to find people that want a 7.1 MP camera.

i just don't have a lot of money with 4 kids constantly breaking their nintendo's! I'll have a go at most things, but i agree if you don't have the confidence to fix it yourself then sell and make the best you can. I'm just trying to clear out the cellar of all the things we broke and i thought.."one day..."

by

I take it you and dealextreme are good friends. If not you should be. It is more than confidence some people are not mechanically inclined. Even if your children didn't break their Nintendo's, 4 of them are enough to break the bank. But they can bring much joy in life.

as you seem to like fixing camera's... don't suppose you have any repair manuals for a kodak m873? or any of the m series? i've asked oldturkey too but he only had some of the old c/cd which were very different. Am trying to sort the lens/shutter flex and cogs in focus mechanism. I've done the teardown seeing as i'm taking it apart anyway but the pictures i took aren't helping my brain put the cogs back in.. or i haven't fixed the problem! cheers
