Water damaged? Can I fix it?

Hi,

i've got a Nokia N 97 mini by a good friend and he told me that on a rainy day his N 97 were in his pants. After the way home he saw that the N 97 were a little bit wet and it's not on.

He tried to dry the N 97. But it doesn't works to turn it on.

So i opened the N 97 and saw on the strip conductor there is a kind of lag it looks like lime. Is there any way to get it clean and dry without destroying the strips to get it to work again?

Sorry for my bad english but i'am from germany and i don't learn technical english.

greetings :)

Chosen Solution

Clean your printed circuit boards and strip with rubbing alcohol and a brush. Then submerge and agitate (move them around) them in alcohol to ensure that the ICs (Integrated Circuits)with BGAs (Ball Grid Arrays) have been flushed of contaminates. Wipe them with paper towels, changing them often, to ensure you are not smearing residues or contaminates to other places. Use a hair dryer ( on low to no heat) or a fan to expedite the drying process. With the use of the fore mentioned continue to let them sit over night to dry. Let them sit at least 24 hours with out the aide of air flow. Reassemble and give it a try.

You will also need a new battery.
