I'v plugged my earphone inside my new iPhone but it doesn't work

I'v recently got my Iphone 3GS replaced and it was later in home when i wanted to listen to a song so I plugged in my earphone but it didn't work while the earphone is new and it's the iphone's original earphone and works perfectly with my sister's iphone or the ipod.I wonder what the problem could be and how it can get fixed.

I would send it back. You said you just got that replacement, so it's an obvious defect.
