My camera keeps saying that the internal memory is full but i've installed a new memory card and it still won't take any pictures is there something else that i should be doing.

you need to go to the menu and select where you save images.. to internal or card.

Yes, on some cameras you do. I forgot to say check that you have formatted the new card when you put it in camera, you will need to go through menu to do this. If you haven't formatted the card your camera won't recognise it. Not all cameras automatically save to empty memory and you will need to select card from menu.

In direct answer to your question in the subject. You need to transfer and delete the pictures on your camera to free up enough space to take more pictures. Insofar as the memory card you added not resolving this problem: Your memory card is of the wrong type, it isn't formatted properly or your card reader is faulty. Since you have listed no actual camera for us to determine what you need please refer to your owners manual for card type, card formatting, card speed and maximum card size. When you insert the correct type of card, that is formatted properly into the card reader on your camera it will naturally revert to saving it on that card. Your camera for some reason does not believe it has anything other than it's internal memory to save things to and it has filled that space up.

My camera is a Canon power shot SD500 - says "memory card error". Just put in a new memory card - it is installed correctly - door is shut. Don't know what else to look for.. Thanks.

We really need more information to properly address your question. What camera are you getting this error from? What card did you install in it? Are there any errors on the lcd or viewing screen? Please tell us more.
