Dented battery. Safe or not safe?

Hello everyone, I ordered a replacement battery from Ifixit 3 days ago and just received it. Well unfortunately when I opened the package it's evident the battery has a dent in one of it's corners.

Now I'm not very familiar with lithium ion batteries and all the searching I've done people either say it's fine as long as it's not punctured while others say it's better to play it safe than sorry. So I'm looking for any advice, I'll attach pictures to better illustrate my problem.

Send it back, they'll replace it, free of charge under warranty, or open a claim with the shipping company for damages. That is certainly not safe. Good luck with your replacement!

EDIT: Looking at the pictures more, I'd say that might be safe, but I wouldn't risk it, especially since you can get another for free.

There is a discoloration where the dent in the corner is. Hope fully it isn't leaking. Either way, send it back to replace just in case.

A dented battery should not be used. It may seem fine at first, but could expand in the future, causing damage to the phone. A damaged battery could be a potential fire hazard as well.
