iFixit replacement battery worn to 50% after about 3 months

In early January, I replaced the battery in my iPhone 6s with an iFixit battery. Now, that replacement is starting to fail. The other night it went from 100% to 30% in 5 minutes. My battery diagnosis app shows the battery has 52% capacity with only 900 mAh. Is this normal? What could have happened?
