How can I repair a mint cosmetic iPod that doesn't do anything?

Hello,

I bought this mint looking ipod touch 4rd gen 8gb off ebay looking to repair it. It looks perfect, except for that it doesn't work.

I tried to connect it to my pc, but nothing. No power up, no itunes recognition. Where to start to repair it?

I'm desperate..

thanks,

Break it down. Look for water marks on the board and lcd. Dry if needed. Remove battery and put a new one in or connect a 3.7 volt power source. It should fire up if the cpu (soc), memory nand flash are still ok.

The battery will disable itself if it shorts the logic board on most li-ion batteries. If there is no power itunes will not see the ipod.

I would maybe open it up and verify all of the parts are inside. If they are I would start with the simplest things first. Is the battery in good condition. Is everything connected? Are all cables intact? Things like that. If the touch screen isn't connected it might not even light up sometimes. I'm speaking out of experience with the iPhone 3gs. It seems that more often than not a quick run over of cables will reveal a relatively simple solution. I would check for water damage, or if there is any visual indication that the circuit boards could be damaged. Best of luck and happy repairing! Hopefully I was able to help a wee bit!
