Not charging, screen flickering

Hi all, so I'm working on a friend's Note 10.1 2014 edition, and she brought it to me telling me it wasn't charging. I tried different cables, but the same thing happened - the battery symbol would show up (as drained) first, then the screen would start flickering. I left it charging for 2 hours and not even one bar would show up.

Then I found this forum with the exact same problem. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr...

So I looked into the USB charging port and sure enough, the pins were bent and damaged. So I ordered a new part, followed the guide here on replacing the charging cable inside. Plugged it in after the change - same exact problem.

I'm stumped and I can't find any others having this issue. What do you think? Bad motherboard?

Thanks -

I had the same trouble. I think it is the outlet i was using. Took it to my friends house using same charging plug and cable. It charged right up. No flickering. and kept the charge all day

Factory reset it and when it asks you, volume up:continue

Volume down: cancel restart ,press volume down

Thanks to everyone who helped on this. I tried these steps and none of them resolved the issue. My friend has since passed, so this is no longer an issue, but hopefully others who are experiencing this issue can be helped.

mind is doing the same thing. I had it on while i was sleeping and it crashed. I woke up to a charging screen and the tablet unresponsive. i brought it down and stuck it on one of my computers whent e usg cable and its doing the same ting. Tryed to reset it but its not doing that either. I suspect its done, lived its life. Ill probably send it to samsung and have them do something with it. thanks for listening

Exact same issue. If at all I have to use it, then I need to have it plugged-in always like a desktop PC. Funny that the recovery mode/menu works without plugging!

The battery percentage always stays as 0% and charging when plugged-in and the tablet shuts down immediately when unplugged.

I just tried switching to a different outlet like the person above recommended, and that did the trick. 😎 Thanks!!

If your screen is still flickering, try adjusting your brightness settings, and disabling the adaptive brightness feature. Corrupted data in the system on your device can sometimes cause the screen to flicker. Clear the cache on your device, then check if the flickering continues.

Greetings,
Peter
