Ram change drains battery and heats MacBook Pro

I read that the early 2009 unibody now could get 8 Gb of Ram. I bought 2 4Gb ram on iFixit and installed them. BUT now my batterytime is only a third and it gets very hot even in sleep mode!

Anybody with an answer?

have you tried putting the old ram back in to see if it made a difference?

After travelling in cold weather with the Mac in sleep mode, the problem disappeared. Spooky.

This is a problem which I think we'll see a great deal of as people upgrade RAM to the max. Please work with me on solving this. I've done about 45 minutes worth of study on it so far but need to do more. The heat has to be caused by your machine drawing to much amperage

We really need to know just how much heat is being produced. Would you download and run Hardware Monitor with and without the added RAM. Please list the specs on both the original RAM and the added RAM. I will contact my RAM manufacturer (RamDirect) for help on this problem.
