Trackpad won't move, like it's jammed in place

My trackpad is jammed and the only way it will function to drag and drop is if I use both hands and force it down really hard. It doesn't make the clicking sound when I push it. I haven't replaced anything or mistreated it, so I'm wondering how to get it to loosen up. Do I need to go get it replaced? Is that the only option?

Agree with @arbaman and @mayer. If you're tech savvy, it's easy enough to do yourself, but you could also find someone locally to do it. It's a very easy repair and shouldn't cost too much.

Check your battery for swelling. If swollen, replace it.

Maybe you don't need to get it replaced, it would give the same problem even if something small ended up between the trackpad and the palmrest and got stuck.

If you want to give it a try and have the tools follow this guide to get to the trackpad and try cleaning small debris and see with a nail if the switch still "clicks". If it doesn't at all, trackpad needs replaced.
