No engine spark on small engine

I’m trying to get my old go-kart running for my son. It has a 1971 Briggs and Stratton engine and I think it may need a new magneto/engine coil. I’m just not sure where to purchase this. I see them on Amazon, but they appear slightly different. Are magneto’s sold today compatible with a 1971 engine? Thanks in advance, Craig

Is the air gap between the magneto and the flywheel correctly set?

Take off the starter cover and loosen the two small bolts that fix the magneto to the engine casing.

Turn the flywheel so that the magnets are directly opposite the magneto.

Slide a business card between the flywheel and the magneto. (The card is roughly the same thickness as the airgap)

Tighten the bolts on the magneto replace the starter and spin it over. It may start.
