Why won’t my camera turn on?

I got the Nikon cool pix B500 (I’m aware my question says I am discussing the P500 but that’s because I couldn’t find the B500 in the options) for Christmas and it worked fine for a couple weeks but then it started acting up and I took it back to Best Buy in exchange for the same camera but that functioned better. It worked pretty good for 2 months then I used it one day and noticed the battery was at halfway and I kept using it and was planning on changing the batteries later. I tried to use it a few days later and the power button turned green like it would if it was on but the screen didn’t light up so I assumed the batteries died. Well it’s been about a week since that happen and I didn’t have the right batteries until now and I replaced them and it’s doing the same thing. What is happening and how can I fix it?
