No display after replacing screen

Had to replace cracked screen. Made sure to disconnect battery before removing any other connections. New screen is black. I reconnect old screen and can see it light up. Put new screen back on and nothing. I have tried hard resetting. Connecting to PC recognizes it when it is on. I tried another new display and it does the same thing. Is it coincidence to get 2 defective displays?

That depends where the two displays come from. If they are both from the same vendor and batch, then you may have received a bad batch or the supplier could be selling very low quality parts. eBay and Amazon typically offer the lowest quality screens.

Regardless of your supplier, you should reach out to them to see if they can either refund or replace the screens.

They were both purchased from Ifixit
