Red power light is on, but won't flicker or anything

I have a Samsung TV model LN40B610A5FXZA, serial # AYMD3CLS600138D. The Red power light is on, but won't flicker or anything when I press the tv power button nor the remote power button.

I tried the suggestions above about discharging the power, but no change. My TV stopped working after a storm here in Georgia, USA.

Do you think I need a new power board?

Felisha time to take a look at the power board. Unplug your set and remove the back, then take a look at all the boards. Do not touch those, yet. Check for domed looking or leaking capacitors. If unsure take lots of pictures of the boards (close ups please) and post those with your question. That way we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.

You'll need a multimeter to do some checking and let us know what you find when you first look at it.
