Why does my console think it is over heating

Just recently my Xbox 360 slim has started flashing the red dot of death and the fan will kick on really high then the console will turn off. I have blown the dust out and put in a new fan but my problem remains the same. I am just wondering if there are any suggestions on how to fix it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Just a few questions, has the console ever been RGH'ed? There are a few possibilities if so. Did you remove the heat sink at all and use an x-clmap tool while removing your x-clamps or a flat head screwdriver? If you just replaced the fan, we could have a knocked component somewhere.
