How to stop my TV screen from running, non-stop, horizontaly?

My Samsung TV model is not listed on the selection, Therefore I chose another model.

I have a SAMSUNG 42"Plasma (PDP) Television.-- Model: PS42S4S2

How to stop the screen from running horizontally?

The old TVs had a specific button for fixing this, but this TV do not seem to have one and the User guide-menu does not list anything about this problem either.

Appreciate any help with this problem and enclosing 2 videos for reference:

1) One showing the problem (horizontal running of screen) is using the satellite/aerial cable antenna provided at my apartment.

2)The other shows the screen normal and stable. This is having the TV connected to a Digital Receiver box.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Dear Oldturkey03,

Thanks for your reply. I had edited my question following the instructions at the link you sent, please review again my original question. Thanks.

Are the digital box and the satellite/aerial connected the same way on your TV? Do they both use HDMI or are they different input connections?

Hi @hkgmmm

has it worked OK before?

Is the digital receiver a cable TV satellite receiver box or a terrestrial TV receiver box?

Here is a link to the closest manual that I can find.

Perhaps the channels need to be re-scanned by the TV and the correct country selected or if the signals are perhaps a cable TV signal received via satellite then the manual method of selecting the channels may have to be selected (see p.19)

This is assuming that the satellite/ aerial cable is connected to the co-ax input of the TV

Many thanks for your concern, suggestions and User Guide. Actually I still keep the original manuals. Will try doing the manual channel scanning suggestion in a day or two and get back to you, I had done it before 2X but in Auto Scan. Meantime some quick replies to your questions:

1) I bought this TV in 2005 and did the connection myself, following the 2 respective manuals. Everything worked fine until now with the said present problem.

2) cable connecting to TV with Digital Receiver Box is CO-AX and not an HDMI multi pin.

3) The estate provides antenna for only local TV service through a satellite dish. I do not have cable TV,

4) Yes, the satellite/aerial cable is connected to the INPUT of the Digital Receiver Box and in turn its OUTPUT to the TV.

Will get back to you with results in a couple of days, after I run again the connections and set-up.

@hkgmmm just to clarify. all of your signals enter through the coax connector? The reason I ask is based on, this not being a TV problem. I think your TV is fine it is just either not setup right or you get bad signals. Double check all of your settings and ask the person in the leasing office etc. about the setup.

Hi @hkgmmm ,

Most digital TVs and "boxes" have an option in their menus to view the signal level and/or quality.

Check the signal level that the 'box' indicates in its' menu option and then what the TV shows in its menu option. Do this with the TV connected to the box (both box and TV menus) and then do this with the TV only connected to the cable.

I think that the 'box' may be acting as a 'amplifier' for the signal. If the signal level or quality is marginal it may be good enough for the box but not good enough for the TV.

If it is low/marginal etc, then ask a neighbour who receives the signal in the same way from the estate what their levels are like just as a comparison. If theirs is OK then check your antenna cable connections from the satellite antenna through to the wall outlet.
