I am having the same issue daily and it seems to be some sort of software bug with these Bravia android OS's where sound just stops while switching channels after x times.

Just turning the TV off and on doesn't fix it since the OS will remain active. Unplugging the TV for a few seconds has so far fixed it since that actually makes the Android system reboot.

Haven't found a permanent solution yet, and I guess it might need a software update if a new one comes out.

@glenbock you do want to let us know what you have tried to fix this. We need to know how youtr TV is connected and if you tried all inputs (DVD/HDMI/Coax etc.). Furthermore we need to know if you use a sound bar/amp etc. You want to make sure that you check the menu to make sure that the sound is set right. You can try to unplug the TV power cord for 3 full minutes, then plug it back in. If a reset does not work and all your inputs show the same results and your menu settings are right, you wikll have to remove teh back of your TV to check the wiring as well as the main board.

I will say that my problem occurs not from changing channels, but from switching between an app like Netflix or Amazon, back to “TV”. The first time audio would not play on any apps, but still worked on TV. I had to do a factory reset to get it back. Now, yesterday, twice in one day, it stopped altogether, but a “reboot” fixed the problem. It’s definitely software.
