LCD monitor not working after opening.

So, decided to take a look at my iMac. A few years back I accidentally damaged the LCD display when I opened up the device (wanted to replace my HDD).

I think the problem lies with the LCD connector (surprise, like most of the questions, already asked).

Back in the days, I bought a new cable, because I noticed the pins were destroyed on the cable. But couldn't get it working with the new cable, unfortunately.

And now I want to try to repair it an maybe use it as an extra desktop.

I honestly think the problem lies in the pins in the socket at the motherboard (?), but I can't really see the pins cleary because of the socket itself. Is there any possibility to get to know if the problem is in the socket? And if it is, can I repair it?

Thanks in advance!

Update (03/19/2018)

I will provide you with a picture of the socket. Maybe this will be some of help for you guys, as the response is not as what I hoped. The pins however, don't look that bad at all...

3/4 of the LED lights work, which means something is indeed wrong with the connection.

Anybody got a plan how to troubleshoot what the problem actually is

Update (03/19/2018)

External monitor works, could actually confirm the GPU was working because I heard the start up chime.

Would you say this one is broken?, considering the fact this iMac is no longer in use, i might try to repair it. But it does not really look broken to me, therefore, it's hard to find the actual of the LCD not working.

Front side, hopefully, this is less blurry

The external connector. This is the one I replaced back in the days. Some of the pins were destroyed.

Tried as good as I could to take a photo of the slot from the upper side of the iMac. It looks like however, one pin is a little bit displaced?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you give us a sharper image of both connectors. This is to blurry to see the discreet pins of the soldered joints. We need to look down into the slot as well.

Could it be possible to heat the socket and try to push the pin back into the melting tin?

Or is this not possible?

The pins on the cable look OK and looking down into the socket the pins also look OK. I'm not sure as you cut off the image but I think the anchor pad was pulled on the right and the image looking down does look like the width is a bit wider at the top. A little pressure can help reshape the connector and if the connector anchor was pulled you should be able to resolver it down after you first remove the solder and reshape the connector first.

Hook it up to an external monitor to help isolate the issue. If the external fails to work, you probably have a GPU issue.

Yes that display to logic board connector on this machine is just not designed well and I have damaged a couple.
