Why wont my screen work?

So its been doing this for a while I have hooked it up to an external monitor and the macbooks display doesnt come up at all. I can shut the laptop and it goes to sleep and the camera works fine. There is no cracks on the screen it looks perfectly fine. The computer works well since I tested it on a monitor. Just nothing is being displayed

Use a flashlight shining it through the Apple logo in the lid. Are you able to see faintly your the desktop and its icons?

No the screen is not detected at all. All the functions (camera, close to sleep) work apart from the screen and apple logo. It looks perfectly fine

I have tested it on my monitor and the pc is functional

OK lets try this again as you missed the point! Use a flashlight to act as a backlight by shining it though the lids Logo. Are you able to 'see' the faint outline of your desktop icons??

This is a diagnostic step to isolate out what needs fixing,
