Disc tray not opening when button is pressed

Ok so ordered this console on ebay for cheap and the disc drive wont open. It makes the ting noise when you press the button but nothing happens. Have taken the console apart and opened the DVD drive to inspect what's causing the problem. So, when you eject the drive, it does nothing, when you press it again, the disc spins and the laser reads. I originally thought the motor that opens the tray might have been damaged. So i replaced it with the same motor from another console which works, and no luck.

The next thing i attempted was putting an drive from a Phat console into the Slim, powered it on and the drive opened.

Anyone know of this problem and any fixes for it?

Thanks!

There's usually a little peg that locks the tray closed until you eject. That is supposed to be withdrawn just before the motor starts to drive the tray out, but due to wear, very often it gets caught and the pressure of the motor trying to open the tray prevents it from unlocking. I have this same problem. I opened up the drive, tested the motor= good. Motor spins when I apply 5v. I tested the drive open/closed sensors/contacts and there seemed to be an issue with those. I cleaned the contacts, and they now appear to be working. But I still get no power to the disc tray motor. Any ideas?
