Why won’t my MacBook start after replacing the battery?

I ordered the replacement battery from iFixIt and followed the steps exactly. My MacBook won’t turn on and the light on the charger won’t turn on either. I replaced the battery because the old one overheated and swelled. The MacBook worked for several weeks with the swollen battery but then it wouldn’t turn on at all, which made me get the replacement battery. HELP!

First try resetting the power management. Disconnect the battery and the Mag-safe adapter. Press and hold the power on button for five seconds, reconnect the battery and the mag-safe, you should get a spontaneous reboot if the logic board has not been damaged by the old faulty battery.
