Why can't I boot up my phone after the battery depletes?

Hello,

I have an iPhone 5S and the original battery was in a horrible state, so I decided to order the replacement kit and replaced it. In the process, my LCD stopped working (I had dropped my phone a lot before so I think this contributed to this) so I ordered a replacement and installed a new display. I go to boot up my phone (with a new battery and display) and everything seems fine. I calibrate the battery, as told to do so, by draining it to 10% and then charging it to 100% without interruptions.

A week passes and everything is fine with my phone. One morning, however, I forgot to charge it before leaving to school and my battery got completely drained so obviously my phone shut off. I finally go to plug in my phone and the Apple logo appears. Just then, the display turns dark and I see what looks like my phone respringing. Then it just turns off again. I try turning it on again, and the same thing happens. This has happened twice now (so it's reproducible) and I've been able to get it to work by putting it in recovery mode and updating it. Does anyone know what I can do so I don't have to put it in recovery mode every time it dies (besides the obvious answer of not letting my phone die)?

**I just noticed that when my phone is dead and I hold the lock button, instead of seeing the low battery symbol, the Apple logo pops up. Don't know if this will help but just found it interesting**

There a few possibilities here. The first is that the replacement battery is causing this issue. If you still have the original battery, you could try to install it to see if the problem goes away.

Otherwise, it may just have to do with the repeated falls you say the phone has been through. Over time, these impacts cause damage to the logic board, specifically the soldered connections under the IC's.

I'm going to try and order a replacement battery to see if this current battery is the problem. This would never happen with my original battery.
