Transferring hard drive to different iMac

My 2010 iMac video card went out last week. I tried baking it as suggested by many, but it did not work.

On ebay, I can purchase a used identical iMac without the hard drive for less than I can purchase a used video card. I was considering getting the used iMac and then putting my hard drive from the inoperable iMac in it. Will this work?

Yes! You can just install the HD from your system to the new one as long as its within the same model series.

Update (03/05/2018)

Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow to take your current drive out and placing it in to the other system: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2389 Hard Drive Replacement. Make sure you transfer the sensor cable thats with your current drive to the new system as outlined in Step14 as they are matched to the make of drive Apple used.

Thanks for the council and the guide. The computer I got from Ebay arrived today, and I installed my hard drive in it. Works great. Thanks again.
