Why am I getting the red x

i just installed a new logic board in an ipod and checked the battery and the screen and got the red cross before the flash drive was put in...do you think the logic board could be faulty??

steve Connolly it's possible but the red X usually occurs when your iPod cannot read the HDD or, in your case, the flash drive. If you had neither one connected the red X will definitely come on. Try with a different drive first.
