PS3 wont read disc. Laser lights and flashes. Disc spins then stops.

The other day I turned my PS3 on. There was already a game in it from playing the day before. The game never showed up on the XMB. I tried several discs including DVD and blueray no discs would show up. I watched several videos and read the trouble shooting guide but still not sure exactly what the problem is. I tore the PS3 (slim) down and made a video of what happens. The blue laser light lights up then the red one flashes. The disc Spins then stops then spins and stops again. It does this several times (spinning and stopping) then it sorta enacts it partially then the disc goes back in and spins and stops several more time until it eventually just stops all together. As I mentioned I have videos of I can figure out how to post them. My question is whether it's just my laser that needs replaced or the whole drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I know my model number for the PS3 but not certain where to find the laser and drive serial numbers
