Won’t turn on anymore

When repairing a screen for one of my phones, the repair went nicely. After testing my phone I went to disconnect the cables, in doing this I forgot to turn of the phone. The phone refuses to turn on now no matter what screen is on the phone. I think it might be fried... please help.

Does it connect to a PC at all? It's possible it still turns on but you may have blown the backlight

It shows up on the computer but won't light up on the phone. i've tested the screen with other phones and it works. What is the issue?

It sounds like you have damaged the backlight on the phone itself, it can be fixed but it requires micro-soldering. Extremely hard, your best bet is to back it up while it is connected and send it off to Apple to get a replacement. Otherwise you can attempt to fix it but you run the risk of ruining the phone completely

Wouldn’t replacing the lcd fix the issue?

Unfortunately not, the backlight itself is a tiny diode on the motherboard and if that blows you can still access the phone but will struggle to see it. The only way of repair is to change the diode itself

Unplug the battery?

You should not be doing any repairs on phones without unplugging the battery.
