Replacing 3.5" hdd with two 2.5" hdd/ssd with repeater cable

Hello everybody;

I'm interested in a Raid 0 System on my 27" iMac late 2009 and for this I need at least two identical hard drives, but I don't want to give up the Superdrive. I think I could solve it with a In(male) to 2 Out(female) sata cable.

Knows anybody an answer?

However when this doesn't work, simply it means that I should buy a new one...

HERE'S A VERY GOOD ARTICLE ON HOW TO DO IT: http://www.twam.info/hardware/apple/inst...

It is written by a theoretical astrophysicist and involves removing the logic board but the pictures are real purdy ;-)

Thanks for the link, but it's for mid 2010 mac and has a third sata port. Maybe with a Y splitter cable should connect the second drive.
