MacBook overheats and fan goes off while I play games.

Since I play games such as the Sims 4 on my Mac, it will sometimes overheat (I usually play it with my computer on the table but sometimes in my lap) and around the top left area of my keyboard will get pretty hot.

The fans usually go off and it's fine, but is this an issue? Should I play the game less for my laptop's sake?

What should I do? Please help!! My computer is only 2/3 months old!

Its hot around the top left as that is the fan exhaust. for reference, keep it between 50-95F (10-35C) apple says.

I think 3D games is not fit macbook air, try 2D games or buy a laptop with a independent video card.

Macbook's aren't great gaming computers unfortunately, I wouldn't suggest using it to play games on as it may blow a circuit.

Yep, that's why I stopped. My fans would go off when it wasn't hot and it'd have problems shutting down, so after I stopped playing games for a while none of that happens anymore.

I've gotten away with Sims 3 on my 2011 13" Pro. It's the Air that has issues - the Pro has no problem with moderately heavy games. Sims 4 also works, but I need to run Legacy Edition due to Metal 2.

3 ramps the fan up more then 4 too, which is surprising. That said, it runs loud since I set it to high.
