If you transferred your original home button, then the Touch ID should work. However what can happen is that you damage the flex cable within the home button or you can damage the home button extension cable that runs beneath the heat shield on the screen assembly.

Take a closer look, under magnification to see if there are any tears in the flexes or damage to the connectors. If it's just the extension flex, that can be replaced however, if it is the actual home button, then maybe a micro-solderer can repair it but repairing flexes is not easy.
