Does it look like ectoplasm? https://www.tribality.com/2018/01/26/the...

Do you live in a very high humidity area?

by

The other colors are there but the green splotches are there, sometimes more sometimes less. There is high humidity now because it is winter but most of the time it is dry.

@skippy1949 add some pictures of what this looks like with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. It will allow us to see what you see. You also want to verify that you TV is a Samsung LA40R81BD

Hi @skippy1949 ,

Try a 'power reset' just to check if it is corrupted data that is holding some settings on.

Turn off the TV, turn off the TV wall power outlet, disconnect the TV power cord from the outlet, press and hold the TV power button for 30 seconds and release.

Reconnect the power cord and switch on the outlet then switch on the TV and see if the problem is still there or not.

Chosen Solution

@skippy1949 double check to see if this also comes on your TV's menu screen. Check the T-con board and the LCD cables, worst case scenario here would be a bad panel. The only way to determine which it is, you would replace the t-con board. If symptoms persist it's the panel. If the menu is normal you are having a main board issue.

Not sure what you meant by double check to see if this also comes on your TV menu screen?

by

Yes. Check to see if your menu displays normal or if it has the same color issues.

by

Menu displays the color issue.

by

To bad. In that case there are two options. Bad T-con board or bad panel. The only way to determine which one is by replacing the t-con board first. Get it from a place you can return it to, just in case it should not fix the problem.

by

I appreciate the help. Will try that and see what happens.
