Can it function without it's display?

I understand the display contains the following:

- screen

- bluetooth antenna

- wifi antenna

- isight camera

- some part of the sleep/wake mechanism

I use my laptop as a desktop like many others.

Let's say I don't need bluetooth, wifi and isight.

Can I use my laptop without it's display attached?

(This is semi-retorical since I've seen photos of such "configurations", where only an external display was connected and apparently it seemed to work.)

In fact I'm only asking the following; if I remove it's original display:

-will the "normal" sleep/wake/restart/shutdown functions still be working?

If I leave my desk, will it normally go to sleep after x minutes if such a setting is made in "Energy saver"?

Will it normally wake up if I press a key?

Will it restart properly? Will it shutdown properly?

-will it function 100% correctly, given it's missing parts (which I don't actually need)?

Is this a good question?

Answer would be positive to all your questions..you can use it without top lid without any limitations in power/sleep/wake functions, everything will work normally.

I'm only dubious about the screen brightness settings. Since I use such configuration occasionally just for testing purposes I never noticed if that works correctly too without a screen properly plugged to the connector. Hope someone can add some insight about that.

that is a problem no doubt.

but thanks on making it clear about the power/energy functions.

Forgot to mention that in case your antennas are still working you could take them off the screen assembly, connect them to the board and hide them into something nice on your desk and avoid losing at least the useful wifi and bluetooth functions :)
