Hi,

will the WD Scorpio Blue 1 Tb fit in a MacbookPro 5.3 15" Unibody?

Should I install the OS before the installation or after with the OSX DVD?

When buying your new drive also buy a 2.5" external enclosure ($25) and install your new drive in it. Then download SuperDuper (free download), install it in your old internal drive then clone it to the external drive. Once it's done, transfer the new drive in the MBP and the old HD in the external enclosure. That should do the job and you'll have a spare back up drive. NB: the new drive must be GUID partitionned for the Intel Mac. So use Disk Utility to partition the new drive (one or more partition) before the cloning procedure.

1.0TB WD Scorpio Blue 5200RPM SATA *12.5mm* HD with Advanced Format Technology - Fits all Apple MacBook/MacBook Pro 'Unibody' Models (13/15/17")

Install the drive and boot from your system installation disk, go to the second page pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility. Selet the drive on the left and format it then go back and install a system.
