What is the suggested temperature of a heat gun to remove the screen?

Hi, I'm gonna try to open my Surface Pro to upgrade the SSD from 256 to 1T.

What is the temperature I have to set the heat gun to work on the screen removal?

Hey there. Would love to know how the OP went with this. I'm also thinking of upgrading my surface book 2 256gb to 1TB!

@tpcware usual temperatures for this is between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius with 80 degree Celsius being standard. To hot and your LCD will get damaged.

Thanks for your kind reply. Should I assume you're talking about Celsius degree or Fahrenheit degree?

Because 80°F really differ from 80°C (that is 176°F)...

80°C-100°C.

Make sure not to push up against the glass or it will most likely crack the screen. What I do is cut through the adhesive, maybe some very thin flexible cards will cut the adhesive well.

@tpcware that's a big Duh on my part. Sorry, those temps are in Celsius.

yeah if you have access to a heat pad I'd highly recommend putting the tablet face down on a heat pad that has been set 80 C as opposed to use a heat gun as if you only have two hands then one will be required to hold the heat gun while you're trying to separate the display.

How hot is "too hot" ?
