storm knocked power out

can a brother printer be fixed if a storm knock its power out ( mfc-j425w ).

I've had this printer about 4 years and never had a problem with it until yesterday .

I was at work but left my computer and router on. we had a bad thunder and lightning

storm. when I got home everything but my printer worked . it will not power on. its plug in the same outlet as my computer and router. I plugged it into another working outlet

but still my printer will not power on. please say my brother mfc-j425w can be fixed and is not history

Hi @justme152, sorry to hear about that, does the power cable to the printer come with a fuse? had you tested with another one?

before proceeding next for more troubleshooting, and if you are unsure on what to do, contact a friend or someone who knows about it as you need to work with some live voltages.

else you need to dismantle the printer to the power supply module, measure with a multimeter on the DC output of it to check if there are any voltages. This to ensure that your power supply module is not faulty.

if the power supply is busted, you can consider repairing it or hopefully get the replacement module from ebay, etc.

note to check the internal logic board too, sometimes, it might be corrupted or defective.
