whirlpool lsq8500jq1 will not fill to rinse . know lid switch is bad

Know lid switch is bad so bypassed to pump tub out but now won't fill for rinse and had had no trouble til switch completely failed

I know how to replace switch but was asking if when you bypass it is there a reason it will not finish the cycles after the wash cycle pumps out. It will not fill unless start wash cycle to fill to rinse clothes
