My Samsung J7 pro was accidentally dropped in water

My phone was dropped on the water for about 5 seconds. I immediately wipe the water from my phone then checked it. At first, it seems fine- the home button, the on/off button and the camera. I was even able to tweet. Then suddenly the screen of my phone doesnt respond on my touch anymore but the other buttons are working. What to do?

Hi @ tunde daniel,

If you want to take a 'chance" that your Samsung can be saved, take it to a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service experienced in water damage repair. (if it got wet and doesn't function properly that is)

Do this sooner than later.

Some offer a no fix no fee service.

By doing nothing and the longer it is not looked at, then you are guaranteed that the phone will never work properly again as it may have become damaged beyond economical recovery, if at all possible.

I dropped my Samsung galaxy j7(cricket)in the water everything works fine except for my home button. What do I do?

Hey there was water accumulation in my Windcheater pocket and my phone was in there for some 5 minutes. When I checked the on off button had stopped working. Soon as I noticed I wiped my phone and blowdried it with a hairdryer. Then after 3 to 4 hours the button started working. But since then whenever I am charging my phone there is current flowing through the metal back of my j7 pro. The service center technitions asked me to continue to use as long as it's working as incase they open the device to wipe the parts they may stop working if there is excessive damage done or there is a chance of the display to break too.

Is there any solution for the current thing passing through the body of my phone while charging ?

Please help. Ran out of warranty last month.

Hi ,

As you have found out water and electronics and electricity are not a good mix.

The water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone's operating design and could damage the components.

First do not turn on your phone and then you need to with the phone turned off, remove the battery as soon as possible from the phone to minimize further damage.''

Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the phone and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available at most pharmacies) to remove all traces of corrosion and water. Do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is <70%, can contain scents and is not as effective. If you do check the label to verify the amount

Here is a link that describes the process.

Electronics Water Damage

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted PCBs be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board.

Hopefully after you have done all this the phone might possibly work correctly again.

Here is a link to the ifixit guide for repairing your phone, which may be of some help to you.

If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service experienced in water damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.

I cant also turn off the phone even if i press the button foor so long. It needs to be touched in the screen first before it shut down. And also i noticed, the front camera has become blury. Its as if it has some fogs.
