What could three MacBooks go unresponsive in one month?

Three macbooks have gone completely unresponsive in one month in our household. The magsafe indicator is faint and just dies out slowly when you plug it in. We have been using the same OEM charger on all laptops, plugged into the same extension cable. Gradually, all three macbooks would suddenly not turn on anymore and not respond to ANYTHING.

Sounds like a killer charger. I would avoid using it and find an original one, even if used.

Don't buy a "genuine" from China, they usually sell garbage in a fake shell.

Any of these could be faulty

  1. Mag charger (Get another or Borrow one you know working to test).
  2. Extension lead (Bypass & use the wall)
  3. Internal problem with electrics in house.
  4. External power issue, cuts, spikes & surges.

You really should be using the proper power supply from apple.

Not all apple laptops using the same wattage magsafe(s). Unless of course they are all identical models.

Extension leads should have built-in surge protectors.

Which should be replaced every 5 years.

If the macbooks in question don't have separate power circuits from the main logic board it is more than likely you have spiked them all. Toasted the main boards.

It goes without saying domestic electrics is dangerous.
