@tiredmom this could be a main board issue. That is where most TV's have the audio amp IC. You do want to try different inputs as well as try some headphones. Not sure if your set has an audio output to maybe soundbar etc. You need to try that as well. Let us know what you get. It will help if you tell us what model your TV is.

Still not working
Okay so it is most likely related to a board on the inside of your TV. In particular, for most models the audio amp IC is on the main board. We do need your model number so we can try to determine which boards your TV has.
My Emerson is model # LD320EM5 it was working fine. Turned it on and the sound is gone. Everything else works fine.
My Emerson is model # LF501EM6F. It was working fine. Turned it on and the sound is gone. Everything else works fine.

@tiredmom check the label which is most likely on the back of the TV. Emerson has plenty of different models, so let us know which one your TV is.
