Why does my iPod keep turning off and resetting?

Okay so my ipod got soaked in water and then it wouldn't turn on for a couple of days. Then it turned on but wouldn't charge. Today when I plugged it into my computer to take all the music off of it, it wouldn't even boot up all the way. It just keeps getting to the apple logo screen and shutting off and repeating. I've tried resetting it and entering the diagnostic mode but it resets too fast to do either, the buttons have not effect. It basically just blinks the apple logo screen and then resets. Anyone know what might be the problem and how I can fix it?

Number one rule after a water immersion would be to NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON UNTIL DRY. Open it up, and to properly let the iPod dry, place it in a bag of uncooked rice for a couple of days. Remove the battery and clean the logic board with isopropyl alcohol. Check the logic board for any debris and/or corrosion. Clean all connectors and make sure there is not corrosion in the connectors as well as on the cables. In your case also make sure that there is no debris or corrosion on the connector for the HDD. Replace the battery and then reevaluate your iPods function. Or you can just get a ZIF to USB adapter, and hook your HDD up as an external drive and try to copy your music of the HDD with software program like Data Doctor Recovery for a PC, not to sure what to use for a Mac. Good Luck and let us know how it is going.

Mine is doing the same thing after I formatted it. I have been trying to fix my Ipod Classic for a while now. I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem, but I can't get to the update to fix it because of this new problem.
