Replacing harddrive ribbon on 15" MacBook Pro

The problem started when I replaced my 300GB harddrive to %00 GB hardrive somehow I cut the harddrive ribbon. I recently purchased a harddrive ribbon from iFix It and was able to reformat except now the hardrive overheats. Making the computer hot to touch and the computer eventually shuts off. Any ideas?

Try putting the old hard drive back in and see if the problem persists. Tell us about the new hard drive, what is it was it new or used. What OS, the last three letters of your serial number.
