SOLVED: dead while charging (using usb-charger) - iPod Nano 5th Generation

dead while charging (using usb-charger)

Hi. I had my nano charging and when I picked it up it was unusually warm, and doesn't react to any input attempts. There was no apparent reason for this break down.

I haven't opened it yet, but I would like to have some opinions on what I might be up against.

Any ideas?

Options

First instinct, I say bad battery. Could be a matter of a defect on the logic board. Next step, disassembly...and then further inspection and evaluation. Good Luck and as you know the guides are available on ifixit.
