Hi,

When you connect an optical USB mouse or a mobile phone do you get an indication that power is being supplied to the device, i.e. mouse light turns on or phone shows charging light?

If you don't then check in Device Manager that the option for the computer to control power to the USB Root Hub device is disabled (unticked). Check all USB Root Hubs, right click on USB Root Hub and select Properties > Power Management > uncheck box > click on Apply > OK (You may have to restart the computer after doing this for it to come into effect)
